Yue Fei's mother, Yao, was born in the fourth year of the Xining era (A.D. 1071). At a time when the country was in peril, she encouraged her son to join the army and inscribed the words "Serve the country with utmost loyalty" on Yue Fei's back. In the second year of the Shaoxing era (A.D. 1132), she accompanied the Yue Family Army to Jiangzhou (now Jiujiang), where Yue Fei settled her in the "Yue's famous garden" at the Shimenjiankou of Lushan in Yue Family Market. In the sixth year of the Shaoxing era (A.D. 1136), she passed away in Ezhou (now Wuchang), and Emperor Gaozong of Song bestowed her burial at Chenjia Long at the foot of Zhuling Mountain in Jiangzhou (now south of Jiujiang County). She is honored as one of the "Four Great Virtuous Mothers" in traditional Chinese culture. The "Yue Mother Pavilion" displays historical and cultural materials and some physical objects related to Yue Family Market, Yue's famous garden, and Yue's descendants. It introduces the life story and the story of educating her son, and through various artistic scenes and multimedia, it recreates the historical context of that time.
