The mother of Tao Kan, a founding hero of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, was Mrs. Zhan, born in Yuzhang Xingan during the fifth year of the Chiwu era of the Three Kingdoms period (242 AD). At the age of 15, she married Tao Dan, a Yangwu General and the Lord of Chaisang of the Wu Kingdom, as a concubine, and gave birth to Tao Kan at the age of 16. After her husband's death, Mrs. Zhan supported herself and her family through weaving and meticulously educated her son. Her stories, such as cutting her hair to entertain guests and returning the fish in the sealed jar, have been passed down through the ages. She passed away in Jiangxia (now Wuchang) in the second year of the Yongjia era of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (308 AD) and was buried in her hometown of Xun (Xunyang) by the Helu Lake, known as the Ox Sleeping Land, and is honored as one of the "Four Great Virtuous Mothers" in traditional Chinese culture.

In the Taoran Garden, the stories of Mrs. Tao's teachings, the praises from various dynasties, and Tao Kan's arduous journey from poverty to the pinnacle of power as one of the Three Excellencies and a high-ranking official are introduced. Additionally, the significant contributions of the Xunyang Tao family to the promotion of Lushan Buddhism, Xun (Xunyang) culture, and the flourishing of Jiangyou's literary atmosphere are highlighted. To add interest, multimedia forms are used to display the Xiyin Academy, some family portraits of the Tao family, simulated weaving, Jin Dynasty attire, and a dressing mirror for visitors to try on and take photos.
